The nonprofit Alliance for Young Artists & Writers (the Alliance) is excited to announce the national award recipients of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in grades 7– A full list of national winners can be found here. A First Course in Linear Algebra is an introductory textbook designed for university sophomores and juniors. Typically such a student will have taken calculus, but this is not a prerequisite. The book begins with systems of linear equations, then covers matrix algebra, before taking up finite-dimensional vector spaces in full generality.

If you do not have a Google email address, please fill out the Oakland Paper Registration Application and mail it to the Writing Project office. Their dates and times are July8: Utilizing a workshop format with visiting writers and field trips, each institute provides ample opportunities to explore writing in a variety of genres, including creative nonfiction, fiction, and poetry.
Each Institute culminates with a reading and celebration of writing by students and teachers! Please visit our pages on the right for samples.
Instruction includes free-writing reading work aloud in response groups opportunities for revision through multiple drafts. In the community of writers that YWI creates, students can challenge themselves, give and receive feedback on new and revised writing.
They can think of themselves as writers. Scholarships are available for students who need financial aid to attend the program. If your child does not qualify for school lunch but needs help to attend, please send a letter and a copy of your most recent W2 tax form.
